Celery Juice Recipe

01/08/2023 | Juice recipes

Making celery juice is actually quite easy. Essentially, all you need is an organic celery stalk and something to press it with. Organic celery is preferred because non-organic celery generally contains a high amount of pesticides. Can't find organic celery? Make sure to wash the celery extra well before making celery juice. You can optionally add some organic lemon juice for flavour, as we do in our Support juice. If you want to make celery juice of the highest quality, you'll need a slow juicer. That way, you can ensure that all the beneficial nutrients from your celery stalk actually end up in your glass. Want to know more? MAKING CELERY JUICE WITH A (SLOW) JUICER:

  • Take one stalk (400-600 grams) of organic celery and separate the stems from the base.
  • Thoroughly wash the stems and leaves to remove any dirt.
  • Cut the stems and leaves into smaller pieces and place them in your juicer.
  • If desired, press additional ingredients for flavour, such as a little organic lemon.
  • For additional health benefits: Drink your celery juice in the morning on an empty stomach. Wait at least 15 minutes before consuming anything else.

Making Celery Juice with a Blender

Making celery juice without a juicer is also possible. Making celery juice with a blender is a reasonably good alternative. Here's how you do it:

  • Take one stalk of organic celery and separate the stalks from the base.
  • Thoroughly wash the stalks and leaves.
  • Cut the stalks and leaves into smaller pieces (about 2 cm) and put them in your blender.
  • Add approximately 60 ml of water.
  • Blend everything until you have a nice and smooth mixture.
  • Place a cheesecloth over a measuring cup or bowl and pour your celery juice from the blender over it, little by little, allowing the fibres to separate from the juice.
  • Squeeze out any remaining juice using your hands if necessary. For additional health benefits, drink your celery juice in the morning on an empty stomach. Wait at least 15 minutes before consuming anything else.

DRINKING CELERY JUICE: HANDY TIPS AND FACTS

  • Don't you always have time to make celery juice in the morning? You could potentially make multiple portions at once and store the remainder in a sealed jar or bottle in the fridge for the next day or keep it in the freezer. Of course, the fresher your celery juice, the healthier it is.
  • Does your body react sensitively to celery juice? Then start with a smaller quantity than 500 ml and gradually increase your intake.
  • Not fond of the taste of celery juice? You can also add apple or cucumber to your juice to mellow the flavor. Gradually reduce the amount of flavor enhancers until you become accustomed to the taste. However, please note that according to Anthony William, pure celery juice is the healthiest option.
  • Does your bowel movement change by drinking celery juice daily? That is quite possible, as it has a strong effect on your digestion. Observe it for a while and see how it goes.

CELERY JUICE PURCHASE: WHAT SHOULD YOU PAY ATTENTION TO?

Making your own celery juice can be quite a task. Perhaps, despite the aforementioned tips, you simply don't have enough time for it. Buying celery juice is a good alternative, but what should you look out for? If you want celery juice to be truly healthy, it's important that it contains an optimal amount of the original nutrients from the celery. Therefore, opt for:

SLOWJUICE CELERY JUICE

Cold-pressing is the best way to extract as many healthy nutrients as possible from vegetables. Therefore, it is advisable to purchase cold-pressed celery juice.

PURE CELERY JUICE

Because pure and natural celery juice is the healthiest option, it is best to purchase celery juice with as few additives as possible. That means not only without other vegetables and fruits but also without preservatives. The preservation method is also important for the nutritional value.

FROZEN CELERY JUICE

These days, there are various methods to extend the shelf life of vegetable juice. This can be achieved, for example, through the use of preservatives, high-pressure processing (HPP), or freezing the juice. At Sapje, we believe that the latter option provides the healthiest celery juice. This way, the nutrients are optimally preserved in a completely natural manner.

CELERY JUICE IN GLASS

Plastic bottles are known to potentially leach harmful substances into their contents. Furthermore, they are detrimental to the environment. Therefore, it is best to purchase celery juice in a glass bottle. Glass does not compromise the quality of the contents and is endlessly recyclable. At Sapje, we also use bottles made from recycled glass.

ORDER CELERY JUICE

If you prefer to buy celery juice from Sapje instead of making it yourself, our Support juice is the purest option. Our Wild, Reboot, and Detox juices also contain celery juice as an ingredient.
